Leadership Camp 2021 - Reflection

Yr 8 Kauaeranga Valley Leadership Camp 2021

Kia ora, Malo e lelei, Talofa Lava and Many Greetings to all , as you should know the Yr 8's from Team 5 went on our Leadership Camp to Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp ( KVCC ) Before I tell you all about our Camp, I would like to say a big thank - you to all the parent helpers and teachers that came to our camp to make sure we had a blast and keeping us safe. A big thank you to Mrs Flavell and Mrs Tele'a  who prepared our meetings that helped us be organise and ready for camp . Of course a BIG thank you to the staff at KVCC that also helped us by stepping up, getting us out of our comfort zone and preparing meals for us everyday .

Going to this Leadership Camp was like no other, no camp like this had amazing and challenging activities like flying fox where we have to shoot ball into a big bucket for points . Paintball, Go Carts, Railway Jiggers, Camp Search, Axe Throwing, Air Riffles and The Cross fit games . There are many activities that I can choose from to mark as my Favourite Activity but I would have to pick Flying Fox with Mr Moran because on my first go I got the ball in the bucket which was a great experience . If I could choose to say which activity I found Challenging or I disliked I would choose axe throwing  because it was one of the hardest task to do because  axe was really small and hard to throw but at least I gave it a go and finally at the end got my target .

Rotuma Information Report

 Rotuma Language Week !

Information Report

Noa ‘ia ! That’s hello in the Rotuman language . My information report today will share with you some important facts about Rotuma .

Rotuma is a small island located  in the Southern hemisphere . Rotuma is surrounded by many other islands, to the North there is Tuvalu, to the East is Samoa, South is Fiji and West is Vanuatu .

Rotuma’s total population is less than 2,000 people . With roughly about 10,000 people living in Fiji . In my opinion I think this is because of the Jobs, schools and space on the island of Rotuma .

The  Main Languages spoken in Rotuma are English and Rotuman . Sadly the spoken languages are listed on the ‘Endangered list of Languages’ which means its slowly disappearing

After learning about the Language of Rotuma, I am now feeling the urge to get up and learn more about MY language and culture. I think it is important as well for others to know how important it is to be in an amazing culture and the heritage it holds . ‘ Never take anything for Granted ‘ .

Task Description : From reading the book Star Gazing by Maria Samuela we had to use how knowledge from the text and list 5 interesting or relative facts from the story. The Main character's name is Stella and her loving and smart Nan. Stella lives in a very big and loud household who loves to get time away from. She meets a famous star named Mere who is also a jealous one, Mere is jealous of the Bright Matariki. Mere takes Stella on a rocky adventure from Stella's annoying family but later in the Journey Stella comes to mind that even though Family may be annoying or loud they are very important to us .

Team 5 : Watch This Space !

Watch this SPACE !

Hello and welcome back to my blog, yesterday we had our Immersion Assembly as normal which is held at the first day of a new term . Term 2's theme is WATCH THIS SPACE ! Each Year group / Team presents their learning that they will be doing that is related to Watch This Space ( This is presented by the Teachers ) My favourite part of the Immersion Assembly was Team 5 (my year ) and I deeply feel they did an amazing item, so job well do Team 5 Teachers . Team 5's item was about reflecting onto the planets of our solar system and mainly about our planet Earth and how important it is to keep it healthy and safe .
I learnt many interesting facts about our planets like Uranus is the coldest planet in our solar system and Venus has a smooth surface . Interesting facts likes this can really be helpful in life and very enjoyful to learn about, this is mostly the reason why we do Immersion Assemblies here at Pt England School .
