HIGHLIGHTS FOR TERM 2

Malo e lelei and welcome back to my blog ! It is coming back to that time of the term when school holidays are coming up. This is the last week of Term 2 and we halfway through the Year. To show and look back on what we accomplished through term 2 we had to create a poster filled with photos from special events, sports or important assemblies. Here is how Term 2 at Pt England School went ....

2020 Highlights

Task Description: List your Top 3-5 Highlights of 2020!

Wow, 2020 has been an incredible and difficult year. Especially with Covid-19 and Lock down happening across New Zealand, but Pt England have been handling it very good while doing google meets to do our Home Learning. It's that time of year to reflect back on what we've done this year and our many highlights. Here are my top highlights of 2020....

 

Yr 7 and Yr 8's team captain's Highlights

 This morning we heard from our year 7 and year 8 leaders. Here are some of their highlights...

Yr 7's

- We came out of our comfort zone

- We worked together on activities

- Thunder were very shy at first but after the second day we gained more and more confidence

- Nina's highlight was the food

- Bradley's highlight was being a prefect while the Yr'8 were gone

Yr 8's

- That some boys were scared so they slept together

- Some of their highlights were the Go- Carts 

- They had a great time working together

- They had heaps of fun

- Paschal joked that there were ghosts which made Jez scared

Happy Holidays Everyone!!

Happy Holidays- Term 2

Yay!!! It's that time of year everyone, yup Term 2 Holidays. I'm really happy to finally chill and spend weeks with my family and friends. I would like to appreciate and say a HUGE THANKS to all the teachers who have worked really hard in these 2 terms. We never had Holidays in Term 1 because of Covid and lockdown, but our teachers were there and did google meets with us students and did learning there. There were also some teachers who helped with Bubble School, you teachers really helped a lot with the students that had no one to look after them at home. THANK YOU SO MUCH TEACHERS. Once we came back from Lockdown and came back to school, there were some things that had changed like our classes, we had to be in our maths classes and have our own desks and space, we finished school at 2:30 instead of 3:00 and we had to sanitize more often at school. After weeks of getting use to the changes most things are coming back to normal, like sports, riverside and many other things. The thing that I was glad to come back to school is that we get to see our wonderful teachers in person and our friends, after hard work during Term 1 and 2 we have finally came to our Mid Term Holidays. My Highlight for Term 2 is getting to know our Maths Class a bit more and seeing my friends again after not seeing them during Lockdown.What has been your Highlight of this term? I would like to say to everyone to enjoy their Holidays, stay safe, make sure that your Family or parents know where you go at times, help do the chores at home and lastly stay kind and keep on washing your hands. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!! :)

Matariki Day Recap

Matariki Day!!!

Kia Ora blog readers and welcome back to my blog, today I will be recapping to you what we did at our Whole School's Matariki Day Celebration we do every year at Pt England School, first let me tell you what Matariki Day is all about.
Matariki celebrates and signals the beginning of Maori New Year, on that day seven stars appear in the sky, these stars are called the seven sisters.Their real names are called: Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, Waiti, Waita, Waipunarangi, Ururangi and Matariki. Matariki is a big celebration of people, culture, language, spirituality and history, this celebration brings many family and friends together as one.

At our Matariki celebration at Pt England School we all were splitted into different groups, and they were Cooking, Arts and Craft, Sports and lastly Movie making (Entertainment). We were splitted into these 4 groups not only to have fun but learn the different ways we can express Matariki based on the activities we had. The group I was put into was Arts and Crafts which was actually cool because I like being creative in many ways. My highlight of Matariki was when we were drawing the patterns on our 7 stars and my table of friends I sat with were laughing and giggling when we got marker on our faces and our designs were very funny. My second highlight is learning more stuff about what Matariki is really about, I now have more knowledge of what it is.

In my opinion I think that NZ must celebrate this because if you are new to Matariki, you will learn what it is actually about and the interesting story behind it and this festive celebration will bring everyone together and celebrate Maori New
