P.E.S vs Royal Oak !

 Friday Rugby Game !

Last week on Friday, the Intermediate girls from Yr 7 & 8 played a friendly game against Royal Oak Intermediate. It was a really fun and a great practise to play rugby before Auckland Champs this Wednesday. Here is how it when….

Friday morning, bright and early I got up. Brushed my teeth, did my hair and changed into my shool uniform. The night before I organised my rugby equipment  like my mouthguard, rugby boots and black shorts. 8:15 I started walking to school, with a happy and excited smile across my face knowing that I get to finally play Rugby again.

At school we just finished our whole school assembly and we had FIOP ( Finish it off properly ) work to do. Before I knew it, it was already Morning Tea time. Once Morning Tea playtime has finished, our team coach Ms Timmi can and got us to change into our rugby shirts, once we were all in the breezeway and dressed up we split into two buses which were from Tamaki College and departed to our game in Royal Oak Intermediate.

Now we were really here, a student from Royal Oak guided us to where the Changing rooms are so we can put our boots on. Not long after that we ran outside to where the fields were and started warming up, 30 minutes later and kickoff as started. Here we go..

We were loosing in the first half, the girls in Royal Oak Inter kept getting back to back tries and we were slowly using hope. Once 1st half finished and we had a 5 minute break before 2nd half started. We were all exhausted and tired but Ms Timmi told us to ‘Keep going, and to never give up !’

Kate Sheppard : The Famous Protestor

Kate Shepppard

Intro:
Kate Sheppard was a famous protester who  fought for the rights of women. She was born in 1847 in Liverpool, England but later in life she had to moved to New Zealand with her family. She died at the age of 87 on  13th of July 1934.

1st Paragraph:

Kate Sheppard protested for a reason, she did it because she believed that women should be allowed to play a full role in society. During Kate Sheppard’s time women were not allowed to vote and their rules were very restricted. Some rules that were hold against the women was that they couldn't sell their land/property, need consent from her father or husband to open a bank account and couldn't vote. She fought and fought until she saw the equal treatment the people give to men as well as the women.

2nd Paragraph:

Before the petition, Kate Sheppard did many other things to help with her up-coming women’s rights protest. She travelled throughout New Zealand, holding public meetings and building support for the cause.Kate Sheppard was a great organizer and she began collecting signatures for the petition that was going to be presented at the New Zealand Parliament. Unfortunately the first petition failed in 1891 but this never stop Kate, she got back up, started again and collected more signatures.

3rd Paragraph:

On 1893 on her third try was her third petition. Kate Sheppard convinced a total of 32,000 people. This final petition was very successful which means that women were finally allowed to vote. Without any of these happening NZ women would have never voted at the beginning. Now New Zealand is the first place that women were first to vote.

Conclusion:

In conclusion Kate sheppard has made history for women in New Zealand.

Without the hard work Kate Sheppard did during the petition women would

never have been treated equally. Now women are finally allowed to vote

and do stuff men do. “We are tired of having a ‘sphere’ doled out to us, and

of being told that anything outside that sphere is ‘unwomanly’.”

- Kater Sheppard.

Cyclone in Papatoetoe

 Cyclones in Papatoetoe !

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog ! In recent news, there have been reports that cyclones have occured in Papatoetoe, South Auckland and created devastating wrecks in some streets. By the wrecks of the cyclone it has damaged houses, buildings and left houses unavailable for the families that lived near the disaster. I pray that the familes stay safe, find food and shelter as soon as possible and the parents stay strong if they have any children that were in the disaster.

For those who may not be familiar with cyclones, a cyclone is a large scale air mass that rotates around a strong center of low atmospheric pressure, counterclockkwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere as viewed from above .

So now that you're familiar with cyclones and what happened to a street in Papatoetoe, we should keep the familes and houses that were disturbed in our prayers and that they wont struggle anymore. We hope you guys keep pushing, staying safe and find new equiment for your wellbeing as soon as possible.

Runaway sheep on the loose !

Kia ora and welcome to today's Reading task ! This task is from the Kiwi Kids News called the Kiwi Kids News Read-off. First I had to choose an article from Kiwi Kids News which was 'Runaway sheep on the loose in New Plymouth' by Shem Banbury. This is an interesting article about this sheep that escaped its owner and running away while people try and look for it. Here are some links to where I found this article.

Mighty Maroons !

State of Origin 2021

Live Wednesday, 9th June 10:00 pm sharp was kickoff for the first match for

‘ State of Origin 2021 ‘ which was held in Townsville Stadium . The stadium was packed with crowds of Qld supporters cheering for their team, on the other side of the stadium was also packed with Nsw supporters roaring with cheers . This is what everyone has been
waiting for,

3, 2, 1 ( whistle blows ) kickoff has started !

The 2021  State of Origin series is the 40th annual best-of-three series between the Queensland and New South Wales rugby league teams . Before this series, Queensland has taken the cup and won 22 times, and New South Wales has won 15 times . Last year the mighty maroons took on the win so lets hope they do it again .

Yesterday in the 1st match of Origin 2021, NSW won the first match 50 - 6 . In my opinion I really liked the lineout for Nsw, they had some amazing players that were from my favourite team Panthers , although I go for the MIGHTY MAROONS ! The captain for Qld is Daly Cherry-Evans and captain for Nsw is Boyd Cordner. Man of the match for each team was Daly Cherry-Evans ( QLD ) and Tom Trobejevic ( NSW ) .

Overall I think all teams did well, even though Nsw won the first match I’m confident that Qld can have a come-back. Nsw get ready for the next match cause THE MIGHTY MAROONS are coming for ya ! (cough, cough we’re gnr win)

What team are you supporting this year ?

The Mighty Maroons or the Blitzing Blues !
